Got it. When I logged on this morning I used a link in my web history that took me straight to the forum index. Using http://www.bigroadblues.com still takes you to the time honored mainpage.

Thanks for all of your efforts on this project. Great job!

Bosco

Other than accidentally deleting a picture of Junior Wells, I think it's all currently intact, so it should still be "especially useful for newbies", rather than "was".

Rusty-
Are we going to be able to retain the links and information that were available on the old BRB mainpage? The harp primer was especially useful for newbies. Thx.

Stumblin, there's currently no ability in the HTML specification to open links in new tabs - you have to do it yourself. I believe in Firefox, clicking on a link with the middle mouse button/scroll wheel will open the link in a new tab. Command-clicking does the same thing in Safari on the Mac. I don't know about other browsers/platforms.

Badfinger, it's really not been that bad. This software is very well designed, and the only hiccup (so far) in last night's upgrade was that Ricochet lost his name for a while - some sort of ID collision with an old, inactive user 'big d', who made a grand total of one post, so I manually updated Ricochet's database entry with data from the old table. The move to this server was pretty uneventful, I had to figure out how to export the database without shell access and not enough free diskspace on the old server.

Any theme updates won't affect legibility. If I do switch to light-on-dark, the font size & weight will be adjusted accordingly. You'd also be able to keep this theme for yourself.

Maybe a "Wish List" would be a good idea

One suggestion, no big deal either way
Could we change our avatar and /or sign-off without changing all the past posts, really just want to see the steady progression of Ric's hairline

Fair do's: the Suggestions and Moans forum is the obvious place for requests and ideas about the board - once the digital dust has cleared, and Rusty has relaxed from juggling umpteen Gigaballs.

Stum': Not so bad, mate. Had to give up twanging because of worn out thumb and finger joints, treated with NSAIDs (the pain, that is), which caused gastric mayhem and various tube-down-your-throat-oscopies... Oh dear: I'm still under the influence of one of those mass-printed "What we have been doing" letters in a Christmas card.
It started with something like, "Hi, everybody, we hope you are all well and wish you a merry Christmas", and continued with an A4's-worth of the ailments - recurring, chronic or merely temporary - that they'd all suffered in the past 12 months. Ill-mannered? Definitely - it's not Christmas yet.

Hey - how about a "Favourite Grumbles" board?

Meanwhile - well done, Rusty. Thank you for what I am sure has been a storm of midnight oil-burning, nail-biting, internet-cursing, nerve-shredding, brow-furrowing...

I'll get my coat.

That way, we can keep our "unread" threads marked accordingly. I know I didn't phrase that very well, I'm trying to fight my way out of a disorienting fug, induced by a nasty cold virus. I feel terrible!

Much better: it's all legible, and the ghost of Billy Marsh no longer lurks pretentiously large.

Ayup, Mr. BF.
