My Dean is sitting at home on its stand still strung to that tuning. Is that enough stress to harm a neck with a steel rod?

I just ran across a National for sale for a thousand bucks, but I haven't got a thousand extra dollars so I would rather take care of my Dean.

I dare say he probably used it a lot, I've worked out a satisfying little arrangement of Ishmon Bracey's "Saturday Blues" using that tuning (I think the original was in E, standard tuning), and I keep experimenting with little instrumental jingles, which I hope one day will evolve into fully-grown tunes.
It took a little bit of getting used to (trying to remember that I'm not tuned in "standard" open-G), but I can recommend it as an interesting tuning to make a bit of a change.
Go on, give it a try :)

I use it for a few things, it's actually pretty versatile.
But what's it properly called?

EADGBE standard tuning
GBEGBD G6 tuning
GBDGBD G tuning , I dunno, don't look like a neck breaker to me.But I wasn't trying to shove something on anyone. I was just wondering. I tend to forget this is a blues forum. No G6 tuning for those blues.
