(try to) play

Blues course for 2 or 3 yrs and really dig it. For those who visit
the site for the first time, you'll have to wade through a lot of
stuff to get to the Blues stuff, as he teachs beginners, worship
music, etc. The site is pretty easy to navigate and once you find
the Blues course, it's good. I think it's particularly good for
people who have a little bit of previous keyboard experience, but
are just beginning to try to learn Blues. A lot of the lessons are
free, and others are pay-for-view, and mail order. I just got
Chapter 11, which is probably a year or 2 worth of exercises based
on the Blues scale. (It's a 4-disc set, 2 cds and 2 dvds.) In
it, he gives 7 skills to master in each key. A lot of material!
Just to give you an idea, I'm working on skill #3 in the key of A,
which is playing the Blues scale 2 octaves ascending and descending
with both hands. The dvds are of course video, in which he clearly
demonstrates each exercise with fingering. When you get it under your
fingers, you then put on one of the cds and play the exercise along
with some pretty cool backing tracks. This particular set costs
about 30.00.

It just keeps going and going after the originally indexed lessons run out. Haven't gotten to the end yet.
