I suppose it's closer to ragtime-type blues than actual straight blues, but it's a lot fun try to do things in this style.

Before I got it, I tried out a lot of guitars for a few months, looking for a comfortable neck and a nice sound. Also tried lots of different wood combinations. But I kept coming back to guitars with the sitka/mahogany mix. Every laminate I've ever owned are also sitka/mahogany - I thinks it's a great combination for a crisp, "woody" tone.

How do you like your Larrivee OM-03? I played a couple the other day, and the OM-03, IMO, sounds a lot better than the OM-03R. The rosewood back and sides seem to make the sound too bright for me.

Mudhole Charlie http://www.folkblues.nl/1-mudhole.MP3 - The chorus/name is of course inspired by Blind Blake's "Champagne Charlie", but doesn't sound anything like him, obviously.

Honey, Don't You Pick on Me http://www.folkblues.nl/1-pick.MP3 - Again, a Blake inspired tune, that (once again) sounds nothing like the great man.

Talking Lazy Blues http://www.folkblues.nl/1-lazy.MP3 - Listening to Woody Guthrie's "Talking Hard Luck Blues", I wanted to make something going the other way, about being lazy.

Hannah http://www.folkblues.nl/hannah.MP3- almost a little country, I guess.

Mary Jane http://www.folkblues.nl/a-mary-jane.MP3 - again, a little folk/country.

It's a Shame to Whip Your Wife on a Sunday http://www.folkblues.nl/whip.MP3 - not my original song, but my arrangement of Fiddlin' John Carson's tune. I suppose it's his parody of "Ain't it Grand to Be a Christian". I only know the Blind Willie McTell version, and this arrangement bears no resemblence now I think about it.

Any and all comments and advice appreciated.
